Indie studio Wild Forest Games has released a new trailer for its upcoming game Dragon Shelter, a charming fantasy farming sim that is increasingly attracting the attention of “cozy” genre enthusiasts. Along with the trailer, it was confirmed that a new demo version is expected on June 5, while the game's release is still planned for 2026.
The new demo version is expected to bring gameplay improvements and additional content, with more information anticipated during June as part of the Wholesome Direct event.
Farming, dragons, and relaxed gameplay
Dragon Shelter combines classic farming mechanics with elements of creature care, exploration, and light RPG progression. Players will take on the role of a character trying to restore the broken relationship between humans and dragons while developing a farm and helping the local community.
The emphasis is on a relaxed experience – in addition to planting crops and crafting tools, players will be able to:
raise and care for different types of dragons
explore a colorful fantasy world
meet and assist the locals
cook and craft various items
Each dragon will have its own abilities that aid in farming and exploration, further deepening the gameplay.
Cozy hit in the making?
The visual style and atmosphere clearly target an audience that enjoys games like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, but with an addition – dragons. The focus on a warm story, community, and relaxed progression could turn Dragon Shelter into one of the more interesting indie titles in 2026.
