The acclaimed 2D metroidvania Constance has finally arrived on consoles. Following very positive reactions to the PC version at the end of 2025, the game is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch for a price of €19.99. The project is developed by Blue Backpack along with partners ByteRockers’ Games and PARCO GAMES.
Constance stands out with its hand-drawn visual style and specific “flow-state” gameplay. Players take on the role of an artist who uses a brush as the main weapon and movement tool – it is possible to transform into paint, pass through walls, perform quick attacks, and combine different techniques. However, excessive use of power leads to corruption, introducing an interesting balance between risk and reward.
Throughout the game, new abilities are unlocked, challenging platforming segments are mastered, and puzzles are solved, while the story explores the inner world of the protagonist and her personal struggle. The game world consists of several interconnected biomes, each with its own enemies, characters, and secrets.
Thanks to its non-linear structure, boss battles, and numerous hidden contents, Constance offers an experience that could appeal to fans of the genre and games like Hollow Knight or Celeste, which we also confirmed in our review – we gave the game 4 out of 5 stars.
