Game Freak has revealed new details about its completely new action RPG, Beast of Reincarnation, directed by Kota Furushima. The game is set to release on August 4, 2026, for PlayStation 5, and a fresh gameplay trailer was shown during the State of Play presentation.
The story is set in Japan in the year 4026, a futuristic world that blends traditional Japanese motifs with science fiction. The narrative follows Emma, a girl born with "blight" corruption that allows her to manipulate hair resembling vines, and Koo, a dangerous being known as a malefact. Their encounter triggers the main story, with character design by Pablo Uchida. Gameplay combines fast real-time action with strategic commands. Emma fights with a sword, while Koo uses special abilities activated through a command system that slows down time. A unique feature of the game is the dynamic world that changes under the influence of blight, where plains can turn into forests, and sudden changes create new enemies.
