Nintendo has announced that following the recently announced price increase of the Nintendo Switch 2 console, players can expect an even richer lineup of major games that should further justify the new higher price of the system. According to the company's president Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo is preparing a “robust software lineup” that will further enhance the offering for the current generation of consoles.
Although Nintendo acknowledged that the price increase is not ideal for players, the company claims that rising production costs and the global market situation left little room for a different decision. The Nintendo Switch 2 will thus increase in price by as much as 50 dollars or about 30 euros in certain regions.
At the same time, Nintendo wants to boost player interest through a strong lineup of exclusives and first-party titles. Among the games already mentioned are the new Star Fox, Splatoon Raiders, Yoshi, as well as rumors about the return of classics like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.
The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to record very good sales results, and the company expects sales of up to 16.5 million units during the current fiscal year.
