Microsoft has officially launched Xbox Mode for Windows 11, a new feature that transforms the PC experience into something much closer to a classic Xbox console.
It is a special mode that brings a fullscreen interface tailored for controllers, similar to consoles or Steam Big Picture mode. The focus is on easy game launching, quick access to the library, and removing distractions from the desktop.
One of the key advantages is the ability to launch Xbox Mode right at system boot. In this case, Windows does not load unnecessary processes like the desktop and Explorer, saving about 1 GB of RAM and improving focus on gaming.
Xbox Mode consolidates games from various sources, including Xbox Game Pass and other PC platforms, and users can return to the classic Windows desktop at any time.
The new option is available through the latest Windows 11 update and is gradually rolling out to users worldwide.
