Red Essence Games and the publishing platform indie.io are excited to announce that Traveler’s Refrain, a hand-painted action RPG infused with music, is coming to consoles for the first time – launching on Nintendo Switch on December 11, 2025. The game can already be added to the wishlist via the Nintendo eShop.
After its PC debut on Steam earlier this year, where it received praise for its visuals, mechanics, and narrative, Traveler’s Refrain is arriving on a platform ideal for narrative adventures that can be played at home or on the go. Players are taken into a ravaged forest shaped by ancient secrets, magical melodies, and threatening divine forces.
Players take on the role of the Traveler, a lonely musician in search of a long-lost love. Armed with an enchanted buzuki lute that can channel powerful spell-songs, the Traveler battles twisted beings, uncovers truths buried beneath centuries of myths and mechanisms, and solves enigmatic puzzles scattered throughout the world. Combat combines mastery of melee weapons with mystical performances of songs, rewarding expressive play styles, magical precision, and creative combinations of steel and sorcery — in a world where every note is as powerful as the blade.
