Nightdive Studio has announced that the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions of System Shock Remake will be released next Thursday (December 18). The remake first appeared on PC in May 2023, followed by consoles in 2024.

"As the Switch port of System Shock is being developed and launched, it can be said that we are working on an impossible port just like the Doom, Wolfenstein, and The Witcher 3 versions on Switch 1. We believe that fans will be satisfied with the performance and functionality we have delivered," said Nightdive Studios producer Justin Khan.

He also added: "Nightdive's goal was to deliver a port of System Shock that can join other achievements like Doom and The Witcher 3. To achieve this, we kept the lighting, which was the biggest challenge of this hardware. We are proud of the result and hope that fans will place us among the impossible ports."

Otherwise, System Shock follows the story of a place called Citadel Station controlled by a rogue AI model named SHODAN that tries to stop players in various ways. In this remake, most of the original game's members appear, including Terri Brosius, who provided the voice for SHODAN.
