horror in an infinite hospital corridor

The indie studio Unknown Waters Studio has officially presented ICU – Intensive Care Unit 8, an upcoming single-player horror that throws players into a claustrophobic hospital corridor from which – at least at first glance – there is no escape.

This is a so-called “observation horror” experience inspired by games like The Exit 8 and Shinkansen 0, but with its own identity and a dark hospital setting. The game is already available for wishlist on Steam, focusing on tension, careful observation, and decision-making under pressure.

A Loop Without an Exit

In ICU – Intensive Care Unit 8, the player is trapped in a repeating hospital corridor, where the only way to progress is to notice anomalies. Every change in the environment can be crucial: from subtle details to dangerous threats that require quick reactions.

Gameplay boils down to a simple yet tense mechanic:

  • observe the environment

  • recognize what has changed

  • decide whether to move forward or go back

A wrong decision can mean the end of the attempt.

More than 30 Anomalies and Multiple Endings

The full version of the game will include:

  • 30+ anomalies that change the course of the game

  • 10 extremely dangerous encounters that can directly threaten the player

  • 3 ultra-rare anomalies with a very low chance of appearing

  • multiple different endings, depending on the player's decisions

This system ensures high replay value and unpredictability with each playthrough.

Horror in a Real Environment

Unlike classic horror games, ICU – Intensive Care Unit 8 uses a realistic hospital environment – specifically intensive care, a space where patients in critical condition are usually found and under constant supervision.
