New European battleships are setting sail in the latest World of Warships update.

Home / News / New European battleships are setting sail in the latest World of Warships update.

Wargaming, the development studio and publisher of the leading historically accurate naval multiplayer game World of Warships, enters the new year in the only way it knows—through an update bursting with thunderous cannons and efficient new naval hardware, useful captains, exciting actions, and more. A multitude of new European battleships drops anchor in Early Access, the French submarine Surcouf finds its way into ports as part of the new action Save for Victory, and a new captain created in collaboration with YouTuber martincitopants is ready for antics on the high seas. Offline and in the real world, World of Warships launches the Atlas 2026 Naval Museum calendar—a new heritage project in collaboration with 12 renowned American ship museums, based on a collectible wall calendar and supported by a series of free combat missions.

Pan-European battleships enter Early Access

Boldly and proudly sailing across the horizon, the fleet of pan-European battleships enters Early Access, giving players the chance to try out seven brand new vessels: Yavuz Sultan Selim, Tegetthoff, Laudon, Chios, Enigheten, Gustav den Store, and Thor. Each comes with long-range torpedoes that deal devastating damage that only increases with their level. Their stealth is very strong for battleships, complemented by their armament, and from level V the consumable Engine Boost allows for quick deployment. From level VIII and above, the consumable Spotting Radar is also available to flush out pesky competitors.

The new Combat Pass celebrates these additions and offers two usual progression lines packed with rewards. This time, camouflages, two new European containers, and the "Honor, Integrity, Virtue" collection are included. The 60-piece collection is themed around Vice Admiral of the Royal Australian Navy Sir John Augustine Collins, and players who complete the collection will receive Collins—the first unique Commonwealth captain in the game with unique talents and enhanced skills.

The legendary French submarine Surcouf leads the Save for Victory action

Starting February 5, in the last week of the update, the latest iteration of the Save for Victory action will give players the opportunity to exchange a combination of resources for unlocking delicious rewards such as the pan-Asian cruiser level VIII Narai, the Italian premium battleship level VIII Marcantonio Colonna, and the Soviet premium battleship level IX Zarya Svobody.

Another of these rewards is the magnificent pearl from the depths—the iconic French submarine Surcouf, a historical vessel armed with four forward torpedo tubes, two triple launchers at the stern, a turret with two 203 mm caliber guns, and Air Strike capabilities for anti-submarine warfare. The level X Surcouf has depth limitations for its tools and lacks sonar or acoustic torpedoes for engagements with enemy submarines, making it ideal for deployment as a surface ship with diving reserved for covert relocation.

martincitopants jumps into World of Warships

We predict calm conditions on the surface with questionable decisions lurking below: expect measured mischief on the high seas as YouTuber martincitopants sails into the game as Captain Mart and brings along the special permanent camouflage martincitopants. Players can unlock Captain Mart and additional items through a special mission that can be unlocked with a code that will be revealed on social media in the near future. The custom flag for Captain Mart will be available for unlocking in the Armory.

The new Atlas Maritime Museum calendar celebrates 12 months of American maritime history

What better way to look into the year ahead than in the context of the Atlas Maritime Museum calendar 2026? Developed in close collaboration with 12 renowned American ship museums, it celebrates the legendary vessels that shaped America's maritime heritage. The project includes a collectible wall calendar available for purchase at: merch.worldofwarships.com, as well as a free online calendar for all players starting in January.

Through in-game combat missions related to the online calendar, players can explore the stories of the museum's ships and experience them directly for a limited time. As part of the initiative, World of Warships will donate its share of the profits from the wall calendar to support the Historic Naval Ships Association (HNSA) and their ongoing work to preserve historic naval vessels.
