Publisher NIS America has announced that the unusual farming sim Village in the Shade will arrive on the Western market during the fall of 2026. The game is being developed by the studio Nippon Ichi Software, known for series like Disgae and Yomawari. The title will be available for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam), while the Japanese release is planned a bit earlier – July 30, 2026.
Village in the Shade brings an interesting combination of relaxed country life and dark elements. It takes players to the mountain village of Kagatsu, where they can grow crops, decorate their home, and meet the local residents, but with unusual rules: don't talk to strangers, don't leave the village, and never go out at night. Visually, the game uses a hand-drawn style, and the gameplay combines classic farming mechanics with exploration and uncovering the secrets hidden behind the peaceful everyday life.
In addition to the standard edition, a limited edition collector's edition has been announced that includes an artbook, soundtrack and additional physical collectibles. For now, the exact release date for the western market has not been confirmed, but the game is already attracting attention due to its unique combination of "cozy" and horror elements.
