Sony has officially confirmed the new increase in the price of the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro consoles, which will take effect at the beginning of April. It is a global price increase that affects all models, and the reason is rising costs and unfavorable market conditions.
From April 2, the standard PlayStation 5 will cost 649.99 euros in Europe, while the Digital Edition will cost 599.99 euros. The most expensive model, the PlayStation 5 Pro, goes up to 899.99 euros. Sony points out that the decision was made due to "global economic pressures", including rising prices for components such as memory.
This is another unusual move in an industry where hardware prices normally fall over time, not rise.
