The latest sequel to the popular RPG series Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is available to players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam starting today. The new adventure takes players into the colorful world of Monster Hunter where the key to success is the bonds between Riders and their Monstie allies.
A tale of two kingdoms
The action of the game takes place two hundred years after the Rift War, at a time when the kingdoms of Azuria and Vermeil are once again faced with a new threat. When two Rathalos hatch from one egg, the story of forbidden lands and intertwined destinies begins.
At the same time, a mysterious phenomenon called Crystal Encroachment appears, threatening ecosystems and habitats around the world and fueling conflicts between monsters. During the journey, players will meet a number of allies, including Vice Captain Gaul, monster expert Ogden, Ranger Squad co-founder Kora, as well as Simon, Thea, and Princess Vermeil Eleanor.
Players assume the role of the prince or princess of the kingdom of Azuria and the captain of the Ranger Squad whose task is to protect endangered monster eggs, restore damaged ecosystems and face powerful enemies. The character can be further personalized through various options for adjusting the appearance.
Tactical battles and new mechanics
Combats in the game are based on a turn-based system inspired by the rock-scissors-paper principle, where attacks are divided into Power, Speed and Technical types that have mutual advantages and weaknesses.
The new Synchro Rush mechanic allows the whole party to perform a powerful coordinated attack, while the Habitat Restoration system gives players the ability to return monsters to nature and improve the state of the ecosystem. Ecosystem rank affects egg availability, monster traits, and elemental abilities.
Players will also be able to explore the large open world using Riding Actions, such as climbing, sliding, and flying on the backs of Monstie allies, which unlock new locations, hidden objects, and 3D terrain.
DLC content and special editions
On the occasion of the release of the game, there are also free Day One DLC add-ons available, which include Gold Circlet add-on and Simon's Wind Wyvern's Friend layered armor. Additional DLC content will arrive later, including “Additional Side Story: Rudy”, planned for Fall 2026
In addition to the standard edition, there are also available Deluxe Edition and Premium Deluxe Edition editions. The Deluxe version includes the Deluxe Kit, which brings an additional story and a special set of costumes, while the Premium Deluxe edition also includes additional cosmetic DLC with new hairstyles, armor and outfits.
Players who have tried the demo version can transfer their saved positions to the full version of the game and continue the adventure without losing progress.
