Microsoft plans to extend its AI strategy to consoles as well. The company confirmed at the Game Developers Conference 2026 that Gaming Copilot, an AI assistant for gamers, will soon arrive on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles.
Gaming Copilot is already available in beta on PC, mobile devices and the ROG Xbox Ally handheld, and will now expand to home consoles. It is an AI assistant that can help players while playing without having to leave the game.
Functionality includes answering game-related questions, tips for getting past difficult parts, finding crafting materials, or recommending new games based on the user's gaming habits. Copilot may analyze player activity on Xbox and provide personalized advice or information about Game Pass and other services.
With this move, Microsoft further emphasizes its strategy of strong integration of artificial intelligence into the gaming ecosystem. Gaming Copilot should appear on current Xbox consoles during 2026, and the technology could later be even more deeply integrated into the next generation of Xbox hardware.
If this system proves successful, AI assistants could become the new standard feature of modern video games and consoles.
