The Final Fantasy IX anime announced in 2021 is still alive. The website of the Eurovisual studio revealed that the first season is in the works. As for the plot itself, the anime will not be an adaptation of the game, but will follow the adventures of the children of the black wizard Vivi.
The first season will contain ten episodes lasting 22 minutes, and will be suitable for the youngest. With this move, Square Enix obviously wants to create a new generation of children who will become fans of the Final Fantasy series. We can expect the official announcement, or the first trailer, during this year.
As for the expected remake, unfortunately we don't have any information. Who knows, maybe the leaders of Square Enix will surprise us in the near future.
