Epic Games, the famous studio behind the global phenomenon, Fortnite, confirmed today through an official announcement a series of new layoffs.
We are talking about over 1,000 employees, which is roughly a quarter of the total number of employees in the company. This massive wave of layoffs leaves a large number of professionals out of work, which is a clear indication of further instability in the video game market.
It's no secret that the gaming industry has been shaken ever since the infamous Covid era, when everything went downhill. Publishing games is more and more expensive, titles arrive in the hands of gamers more and more late, and dismissals of "ordinary" people are increasing.
The studio added that on Thursday, March 26, it will announce the company's "roadmap", where it will go into more detail about the aforementioned layoffs, and announce the direction in which the company is going.
