Microsoft's new "Xbox Full-Screen Experience" (XFSE) – a customized Windows 11 user interface for gaming – will not be reserved exclusively for the ROG Xbox Ally X. XFSE is a simplified controller mode, with automatic launching of the Xbox app and minimal system load – saving up to 2 GB of RAM, which improves performance and battery life, especially on portable devices.

Although XFSE initially arrives with the new ROG Xbox Ally X, Microsoft plans to enable a similar experience for older Ally devices and other handheld gaming PCs in 2026. It has not been confirmed whether XFSE will be available for traditional computers, but it is possible that the community will integrate it unofficially.

This initiative brings the Windows experience closer to consoles, similar to how SteamOS already offers similar functionality for handheld devices and traditional PCs.
