Recently, the U.S. Copyright Office rejected a proposal from the Video Game History Foundation (VGHF) that sought permission for the digital preservation of old, out-of-distribution video games, making them available to the public through libraries. The office expressed concerns about potential abuse and piracy, while the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) supported the decision, claiming that digital availability would harm the market. VGHF believes that preserving the cultural history of video games is important and announces further advocacy for access to old games.
