Belgian expert Thierry Van Gyseghem will soon hold an interesting lecture at the conference Blend: Film & Games 2025, further raising the level of the program.
Van Gyseghem has extensive experience in the video game industry: he played a leading role as Animation Director on titles Baldur’s Gate III and Divinity: Original Sin II. Thanks to him, these games feature high-quality and fluid animations that make them stand out from other titles of a similar genre.
Regarding experience, in interviews from previous projects, Van Gyseghem emphasized the importance of flexibility and teamwork. During the production of Divinity: Original Sin, he often switched between animation and artistic concept, as the smaller team required versatile skills. He also spoke about the challenges of balancing visual aesthetics and audience reception, for example in the controversy over the “boob plate” armor, stressing that art often faces criticism, but designers must be ready to argue their decisions and adapt them if necessary.
At this year's lecture on October 2, 2025, you will learn how cinematic language and interactive media can enrich the audience's experience. We believe this topic will attract the attention of conference attendees.

The Blend conference is organized by the Zagreb Film Office and Games Croatia (HAVC) along with academic partner Algebra University Bernays, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media, the City Office for Culture and Civil Society, and with the backing of film and gaming associations.
