Sony has decided to move the release date of the long-awaited animated film Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse a week earlier. The new premiere date is June 18, 2027, while it was originally scheduled for June 25. This is yet another change in the trajectory of the Spider-Verse trilogy, which has already been postponed several times.

The film is directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, and produced by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh. The screenplay is written by Lord, Miller, and David Callaham. The studio promises a combination of different animation styles and further pushing the boundaries of the visual experience.

Familiar characters will reprise their roles: Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone. The film's plot picks up immediately after the events of Across the Spider-Verse, as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy face new threats while trying to save the world.

Sony first presented the film's first images at CinemaCon in April, and the shown video featured Miles' struggle with an evil alter-ego and scenes with unusual sky colors, along with tense dialogue.

In addition to Beyond the Spider-Verse, work is also underway on the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the spin-off series Spider-Man Noir for Amazon Prime, starring Nicholas Cage, both expected next year.
