Rikon 2024, the largest Croatian convention of fantasy, pop culture, and gaming, will soon open its doors for a weekend that promises an unforgettable experience for fans of fantasy, cosplay, video games, and East Asian culture. This year's Rikon, which will take place from October 11 to 13, 2024 at Exportdrva Rijeka, is set to be more spectacular than ever before and brings a top international guest, a series of interesting lectures, panels, workshops, quizzes, competitions, games, and tournaments.
This year's honorary guest of Rikon is Doug Cockle, an American voice actor best known for voicing Geralt of Rivia in the mega-popular video game "Witcher" by the Polish giant CD Projekt Red, a game that has been named game of the decade and enjoys its adaptation on Netflix. In addition, Doug voices many characters in video games, including “Baldur's Gate 3”, “Horizon Zero Dawn”, “Alan Wake II”, and “The First Descendant”, and he also acted in HBO's series "Band of Brothers" and with Christian Bale in "Reign of Fire."
Visitors of Rikon will have the opportunity to meet Doug, buy autographs, take pictures with him, or even receive a personalized voice message. Doug will be featured in the program on Friday and Saturday, and besides signing autographs, visitors will have the chance to listen to two panel discussions with him and ask him questions.
From Friday, October 11 to Sunday, October 13, 2024, the Rikon program includes panels, lectures, and quizzes about cult films, games, popular series, and Korean culture. Additionally, there is the audience's favorite segment - Cosplay competition, the only Croatian K-pop dance competition, and the always popular board game zone, gaming tournaments, creative workshops, and a program dedicated to Rijeka martial arts clubs.

Rikon this year brings attractive content about East Asian pop culture and music. Rikon is hosting the only national K-pop Dance competition, which awards in three categories: solo performance, duo/trio, and group performance, showcasing original choreographies to songs of globally popular Korean pop.
To end the day, from 10:00 PM on the upper floor of Exportdrva, a K-pop party will begin, where a DJ will entertain visitors with the latest and greatest hits from the k-pop scene. Entry for all Rikon visitors is free, while others can purchase tickets at the entrance.
The most popular program segment: Cosplay competition on Saturday
An essential part of the program is the Cosplay competition, which brings together beginner and advanced Cosplay artists who will once again dominate the convention with their impressive costumes. The panel of judges, who will decide on the winners alongside audience votes, consists of renowned Croatian, Slovenian, and Colombian Cosplay artists who have won international awards with their costumes. The judges will evaluate the craftsmanship and quality of the costumes, the composition of the performances, and will award prizes for the “Master” league category and the beginner “Apprentice” league.
Playing: on board, with cards, on vintage technology or powerful computers
Throughout the Rikon weekend, visitors will also be able to play: in the board game zone with social games, in the card game zone, as well as in the gaming and retro zone. Udruga RiRoll provides a rich board game zone for all those who want to try their hand at classic board games, while River City Games organizes a tournament-rich TCG zone - trading card games - with games such as Yu-Gi-Oh, Lorcana, Magic the Gathering, and others.
Peek&Poke Rijeka brings “vintage” examples of consoles and arcades from the museum so that all generations can enjoy original fun games and forgotten technology.
River City Games also organizes a gaming zone and a League of Legends tournament, on top-notch computers equipped with powerful configurations provided by Računala.hr.
