A serious security vulnerability has been discovered in the Unity Engine, prompting urgent reactions from numerous developers. The flaw dates back to a version from 2017 and allows potentially harmful code to be executed within the game through local access. The issue affects versions for Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Unity has stated that there is currently no evidence that anyone has exploited this security vulnerability, but they advised all developers to update their games as soon as possible. Some studios, such as Obsidian Games, reacted immediately and temporarily removed their titles from Steam until the issue is resolved.

Temporarily removed games include: Pentiment, Pillars of Eternity: Definitive Edition, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, Grounded 2 Founders Edition, and Avowed Premium Edition. Obsidian has confirmed that they are already working on fixing the vulnerability and plan to return the games to sale soon.

This case once again shows how serious security issues are in the gaming industry and how even a single technical flaw can affect the availability of a large number of popular titles.
