Borderlands 4 had its special State of Play on Wednesday where new gameplay was showcased. We learned that our characters will have a special hook this time that we will use during attacks and for easier movement through the environment.
This time, players will also have the opportunity to craft hybrid weapons, meaning they will be able to combine parts from different manufacturers to achieve various effects and special attacks. The story will introduce us to new characters, but of course, there will also be familiar faces like Moxxi, Zane, and Claptrap.
To make co-op easier, the team has implemented dynamic level scaling, which means that anyone can jump into the game with a friend and will have separate difficulty based on the level they are at. Crossplay will be available at launch, as well as the option for local play (couch co-op).
Earlier this week, Gearbox revealed that we will be playing Borderlands 4 two weeks earlier (September 12, 2025), instead of 23rd as previously announced.
