NIS America and Falcom have announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure are coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 during autumn 2026. The exact release date has not yet been confirmed, but both games will receive new releases for current consoles, along with technical improvements and a physical collection for fans who understandably love to have a shelf full of JRPG emotional damage.
This is the well-known Crossbell duology, one of the key parts of the long-running Trails series. Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure follow the Special Support Section, a small police unit in the autonomous state of Crossbell, a city-state caught between the great powers of Erebonia and Calvard. In practice, this means a lot of politics, a lot of dialogue, a lot of slow world-building, and an emotional knockout when the game decides to stop being charming. So, Trails in its purest form.
The new releases for Switch 2 and PS5 will bring improved performance, including support for 4K resolution and up to 120 FPS, while the versions for Nintendo Switch 2 will also feature support for Mouse Mode. The games will be available for purchase separately in digital form, while the physical edition will combine both titles into one collection.
The current versions are already available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC, but the new releases clearly aim for a more modern presentation and better performance for the audience that wants to experience Crossbell in the most technically pleasing form.
