RUBATO is a new 2D collect-a-thon action platformer set to release on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on March 20, 2026. The game is developed and published by the indie team dconn, with support from the publisher Headcannon, known for their work on Sonic Mania Plus and other projects.

RUBATO combines classic side-scrolling platforming with experimental physics systems and Metroidvania-style exploration. The game is set in the distant future — the year 12,012 — after a catastrophe in which unknown forces destroyed the Solar System, and the population begins to vanish. In the chaos that follows, a mistakenly struck billiard ball triggers a series of unusual events that lead the protagonist on a world-saving adventure.

Players will traverse through five densely packed areas, such as a massive bakery and “the worst-planned city in the world,” uncovering secrets and shortcuts while collecting so-called “Planet Bits” — essential for restoring the destroyed solar system. One of the signature mechanics is the use of the protagonist's tongue for licking enemies and objects, adding a humorous and unique dynamic to the gameplay.
