Sega has announced a program for the upcoming 35th anniversary of the popular blue hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog. The new trailer aims to spark excitement among fans and revisit some of Sonic's best moments, Sega has promised a rich schedule of high-energy events that will unite fans around the world.

There will be gatherings, certain memorabilia created in collaboration with partners, pop-up museums and exhibitions, concerts, and even a podcast. More details will be announced throughout this year; unfortunately, Sega has not announced anything for a new title, and the last main game in the series was Sonic Frontiers (2022).

"We are extremely excited to celebrate 35 years of Sonic with our fans. This achievement is not just a look back at the past, but also a look forward as we continue to evolve and grow. We want to connect our community and bring them unforgettable experiences throughout 2026." said Marcella Churchill, Vice President of Marketing at Sega.

Sonic originally appeared in America on June 23, 1991, on the Sega Genesis, and by July, he also made his way to Europe and Japan. However, his character is a bit older, as he was available as a dashboard ornament in the racing title Rad Mobile in February of the same year.
