Paradox Interactive has launched a new expansion for Victoria 3 titled The Great Wave, which brings a significant expansion of naval gameplay and historical content. The expansion is available from today, separately or as part of the Volume 3 package.
The main focus is on navy development – players can now design their own ships through the new Ship Designer, build fleets tailored to the state's strategy, and even sell ships to other nations through special contracts. "Flagship" ships that lead the fleet have also been introduced, along with new diplomacy options based on naval power, including so-called gunboat diplomacy.
A large portion of the content is dedicated to Japan and the late Edo period. Players will be able to lead the country through political and social changes, decide whether to embrace modernization or resist external influences, and use the navy to expand influence on the global stage.
Along with gameplay innovations, The Great Wave also brings new visual enhancements such as Japanese architectural style, UI elements, and additional historical figures. The expansion is available for a price of €29.99 and is aimed at players who want to manage naval dominance more deeply in this grand strategy title.
