The French studio Eversim has returned with the fifth installment of its ambitious series Geo-Political Simulator, this time titled Power & Revolution 2024 Edition. If you've ever wanted to be a president, opposition leader, CEO of a multinational corporation, or simply control the world – this game allows you to do that. On paper, it is the most detailed political simulation ever made. But can GPS5 justify its high ambitions?

What can the player do?

In Geo-Political Simulator 5, the player takes control of any of the 175 countries in the world. The goal? To lead the nation through crises, wars, elections, negotiations, protests, climate disasters, trade wars, and everything in between. The game offers multiple gameplay roles:

  • Head of State: you manage laws, the military, the budget, diplomacy, and infrastructure.
  • Opposition Leader or Rebel: you can overthrow the government through elections, revolution, or a coup.
  • Corporate Director: you expand your business empire, invest, lobby, and influence politics.

The simulation goes into incredible detail – over 600 variables per country, thousands of laws, and real data about world leaders, companies, trade relations, and military forces.

What's new in GPS5?

  • New 3D world map with better visuals, terrain, and infrastructure.
  • Redesigned interface, optimized for 4K and dual monitor use.
  • Detailed economic model with real companies and markets.
  • New scenarios: elections in the USA 2024, the Olympics, war in Ukraine 2025.
  • New "CEO mode" – you lead your own corporation and build a global business empire.

How playable is it all?

Although the content is impressive, Geo-Political Simulator 5 is not a game for everyone. The learning curve is steep, the menus are full of numbers and options, and the AI often makes illogical decisions. There are also technical issues – occasional bugs, performance drops in later stages, and strange economic inconsistencies.

The game requires patience, exploration, and adaptation, but if you're a fan of complex strategies like Hearts of Iron or Victoria, GPS5 could become your new obsession.

Pros and cons:

✅ Pros:

  • Incredible depth of gameplay
  • Real-world data and scenarios
  • Great freedom and creativity
  • Improved presentation and UI

❌ Cons:

  • AI still limited and sometimes illogical
  • Bugs and performance issues
  • Complicated and difficult for new players
  • Some tools are paid additionally (e.g. God’n’Spy)
