Wargaming, developer and publisher of the leading historically accurate naval multiplayer game World of Warships, has revealed a new collaboration with Swedish heavy metal band Sabaton. The partnership results in the release of a powerful new single - "Yamato" - associated with the iconic Japanese battleship. It also brings the "Legend of Sabaton" collection to the game from March 13th to April 16th, featuring Captain Sabaton, themed camouflages, and containers. Players will also be able to participate in a themed broadcast with a special guest for a chance to win Sabaton concert tickets and other in-game items.

World release of Sabaton's new single - "Yamato"

Sabaton's latest single "Yamato" pays tribute to the iconic Japanese battleship of the same name and takes fans on a thunderous journey through history. The song marks the second collaboration between World of Warships and Sabaton, following on from the success of the previous single "Bismarck", released in 2019. A special music video for "Yamato" is also available for viewing on YouTube and enhances the song's heavy riffs with striking visuals for an enhanced listening experience.

Sabaton frontman Joakim Brodén joins as captain

The collaboration features Sabaton frontman Joakim Brodén as a captain in the game World of Warships, with the voices of Joakim himself and Sabaton bassist Pär Sundström. With Commander Joakim Brodén at the helm, the standard battle soundtrack is replaced with the songs "Yamato" or "Bismarck", turning each conflict into an epic metal experience.

Collection "Legend of Sabaton"

The "Legend of Sabaton" collection takes fans on an epic journey through the band's history. Its elements are available in themed standard and premium containers, and reveal personal messages and facts about the composition. Players who complete the collection will enjoy the "Crowned in Smoke and Flame" permanent camouflage for Yamato, Commander Joakim Brodén, and five Metal Flame permanent camouflages. In addition to the collection, players can also find the new "Into Fire" enemy destruction effect, commemorative flags and the Sabaton patch in special packs.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with Sabaton on the powerful new single 'Yamato'”, says Christian Bergmann, Deputy Director of Publishing at Wargaming. Sabaton's passion for storytelling and bringing history to life resonates deeply not only in our team, but also in our community. We're thrilled to offer players new content as part of this collaboration, celebrating the band, their legacy and the stories that inspire us all."

"'Bismarck' was such an exciting song, but it was never part of the album and it felt like something was missing. We always wanted to continue that story. Over the years, countless fans have asked us to write a song about Yamato, and we knew it would be a natural continuation of what we started with Bismarck. We knew we wanted this song to have a completely different sound, and when Tommy wrote the music for this, we felt we had a suitable, powerful song for this story. We're working with World of Warships again, and since our worlds are so close, it seems only natural to continue this great partnership. We've made a legendary music video together!" says Pär Sundström from Sabaton.

Battle of Matapan and Return Operation Pass action

In addition to cooperation, the new Action Passes and the return of Operations are coming as part of Update 15.2. The Battle of Matapan Pass campaign commemorates the 85th anniversary of the battle for supremacy in the Mediterranean between Great Britain and Italy and offers themed prizes such as the new Italian Tier VII premium cruiser Fiuma. Additionally, three returning Operations become permanently available after their debut in 2025, including Arctic Convoy, Tokyo Express, and Pacific Offensive. The update closes out with aircraft carrier mechanic changes, Okinawa map balancing, a new season of Clan Battles, and the continuation of Lunar New Year 2026 celebrations.
