Blizzard's MMO champion World of Warcraft this Tuesday once again introduced players to a new conflict on the planet Azeroth. World of Warcraft Midnight is the eleventh expansion for the popular game and is also the second of three planned titles in the Worldsoul Saga, which also includes World of Warcraft The War Within (2024) and the upcoming World of Warcraft The Last Titan.
Midnight sets its story in and around the kingdom of Quel'Thalas and focuses on the conflict between the forces of light and the Void. It also picks up right where The War Within left off i.e. with the attack of the mysterious Xal'atath who leads her army with the goal of Azeroth being enveloped in darkness.
A look at the Metacritic page shows that most other portals are still working on their reviews, while the user rating is currently at 6.0/10.
This is how the site Hobby Consolas had the following to say about World of Warcraft Midnight:
World of Warcraft: Midnight uses the transition from the Worldsoul Saga to recover the classic identity of Azeroth with great success in terms of setting and new content, with a narrative that still needs more emotional charisma.
The popular gaming and tech giant IGN is still working on its review, but according to impressions, their reporter Leana Hafer said the following:
I played several different classes to level 80 in the pre-patch event, which included most of the class changes for Midnight, focusing on my trusty Marksmanship Hunter main and the new Devourer Demon Hunter that unlocks with the expansion. I'm not ready to pass judgment on any spec until I see how they play at max level in difficult content. But as far as Marksmanship goes, I mostly agree with the changes so far thematically. Aimed Shot should be a big nuke that takes a long time to cast. But with the removal of talents like Streamline, the damage needs to feel a lot chunkier than it currently does to earn that fantasy. Our final apex talent, which will give it a 100% critical chance at level 90, could be the answer. We'll see.
The only available official review is that of the portal GamesRadar+, and according to them the verdict is as follows:
World of Warcraft: Midnight is a smart expansion that builds upon The War Within and improves on strong MMORPG foundations. As before, this is an evolution rather than a revolution, but I'm excited to see this icon still has room to grow. Small improvements really add up, making me want to spend far more time returning to this world than I expected.
