UFOPHILIA is a psychological horror game developed by k148 Game Studio and published by JanduSoft.
The Internet is full of stories about aliens. Extraterrestrials (aliens, spacemen) is a term used to denote organisms whose home is not the planet Earth, but some other part of the universe. Today, exobiology deals with the study of this phenomenon, which until today has not been able to find a single authentic proof of the existence of life outside the Earth. In scientific circles, this term refers to any form of life ranging from the simplest bacteria to complex organisms similar to humans.
On the other hand, people like Krešimir Mišak and the show On the Edge of Science ask the question, is it possible that UFOs have been present among us much longer than we think? Is there evidence that ancient peoples had contact with extraterrestrial beings? What are the true intentions of these entities, if they really exist? Misak thus investigates how governments and powerful organizations around the world hid evidence of the existence of UFOs, in accordance with already existing conspiracy theories about secret programs and manipulation of information.
Since there are controversies in the public and many people falsely or do not testify to contacts with aliens and UFOs, this game gives us the opportunity to go on the hunt for aliens ourselves and, with special techniques and methods, undoubtedly record their existence for the first time in locations that have been "reported" as suspicious. The game has no introduction and story, but immediately "throws" us into the central plot, which is the discovery of aliens.

Our station is a camping house where we have all the necessary equipment, from our computer with a database of alien types to cameras, detectors, microphones, decoys and night vision devices that help us detect unusual phenomena in a certain place, that is, to detect aliens.

The game expects us to be patient, record data, analyze and carefully approach each type of alien in order to be able to photograph it and consequently prove their existence.
One of the most impressive features of the game is the variety of alien species. There are nine types of aliens you can encounter, each with different behaviors, reactions and weaknesses. Some are aggressive hunters, others are curious observers, and a few are playful. Learning how each alien behaves becomes a key segment of the game. Some react to light, others to sound, and some can only be detected by certain combinations of tools. This creates a learning curve that rewards observation and experimentation.
The biggest drawback to the game is that the information about the aliens is on the laptop, so unless you (still) use paper and pen, that translates to constantly going back to the caravan to record/process certain information. Also, the game limits you to carrying only two pieces of equipment so that the gameplay is extended even further.
Unlike horror titles where the scares fade as soon as you know what's coming next, UFOPHILIA constantly keeps you off balance. You may enter a familiar location, but encounter a completely different alien activity than before. The game tries to ensure that aliens are never present in the same place. This ensures that tension remains high even after multiple sessions. Randomness also ties into the Roswell points system, encouraging replayability as you try to earn higher ranks and unlock better tools and missions.
Visually and audio, the game is excellent. The lighting is minimal, the spaces are dark where you need to use a flashlight to see better. In addition to dark spaces, the impression is enhanced by sound manifested through screeching, sighs, distant sounds of movement, talking behind the back, randomly turning on, for example, a television, turning off a lamp just near contact with an alien, and much more.
The game offers training at the very beginning, in which you can quickly grasp the concept of the game, which is to record things and take pictures of an alien in a certain place.

In training they will not attack you, while outside training they will, some, but not all.
The basic structure of the game in UFOPHILIA is always the same. You start from a base where a laptop contains information about the types of creatures you can encounter.

In the beginning, use the camera and the detector to locate the presence of the alien. When the device signals proximity, you activate "Phase 4" - the moment when the entity "physically" manifests. Then you have to react quickly and photograph it. Each encounter in UFOPHILIA can end in two ways, success or kidnapping. If it ends with a kidnapping, the next cutscene

And after that you start all over again!
We played the game on XBOX, where the game currently costs 10.50 EUR, while on Steam you can get the game for 12.50 EUR.
For this price, the game is definitely worth playing because it provides an interesting and different experience, in which education about the types of aliens is encouraged and you are asked to be patient, carefully use the available devices and acquire knowledge of which types of devices to use or which of them to combine together. The only drawback of the game is that you can only carry 2 types of devices with you and that you have to constantly return to the caravan on your computer and it is in these shortcomings that we see the possibility to improve the game in the future (some new sequel and DLC).
Final verdict:
★★★★ - "Very good"
Very good game! Jako malo joj nedostaje da ju proglasimo izvanrednom igrom. We have no complaints from the technical side. Najbolje što se može kupiti za novac u žanru u trenutku objave recenzije.
