Nex has officially confirmed that their family gaming platform Nex Playground from April 1, 2026 increase in price, with a new suggested retail price of US$299. This is an increase of 50 dollars compared to the previous price of 249 dollars. In the official announcement, the CEO of the company David Lee points out that this decision was not made lightly. The main reason for the price increase lies in the rising costs of key components such as RAM (DDR) and internal storage (eMMC), whose prices have risen significantly in the last six months.
This trend is connected with the global growth of the AI industry, which increases the demand for memory and storage components, which consequently affects the prices of consumer electronics. Nex states that they tried to absorb the increased costs as long as possible, but in the current conditions this is no longer sustainable. Despite the price increase, it is important to emphasize that the price of the Play Pass subscription remains unchanged.
Nex Playground is a device similar to the former Kinect, focused on family gaming and physical activity, and during the last year it achieved notable success on the market. Although the new price will probably affect the accessibility of the product, the company says that they remain dedicated to the long-term development of the platform and providing value through continuous improvements and new content.
The release of the console on the European market is expected in the summer of 2026
