Quake II has received a new version that has angered many players. The culprit is Microsoft, which launched a version created with the help of Microsoft Copilot, specifically the generative AI model Muse. As they say, this system is capable of generating visuals, controls, or a mix.
The demo is available on the official page, and Microsoft stated that it does not intend to replace the experience of playing the original version. They added that while it is fun to play the new version, there are many obstacles and limitations.
As they claim, the enemies need to be fixed as they often appear blurry, and the gameplay runs at 9 frames out of 10 fps. This is certainly an extraordinary proof of what artificial intelligence can create, but social media users are not very satisfied, and most agree that this is an insult to the designers of the original.
