After rumors emerged about a possible shutdown of Ubisoft's free shooter XDefiant, the game's executive producer Mark Rubin denied these claims, emphasizing that content for the second year is still being planned.
Recent rumors about issues with the game came from well-known leaker Shaun Weber, who stated on Twitter that the game is "already dead." Weber further explained that "Ubisoft's research team is actively asking its testers to participate in another internal testing and repeat their feedback. Multiple sources have indicated that support for the game could end after the fourth season if they fail to attract a sufficient number of players."
However, Mark Rubin quickly responded to these rumors with a tweet: "To be completely clear, there are no plans to shut down the game after the fourth season. Last week we had meetings about plans for the second year of the game."
Rubin also emphasized that the team is focused on improving the technical experience, including optimizing the game's network code, as well as adding new content for the third and fourth seasons. Although player numbers are currently lower, Rubin explained that this is partly due to a lack of marketing, which was an intentional move to give the development team time to improve the game before investing more resources in advertising.
Despite the challenges with player numbers, XDefiant continues to make improvements. The latest patch, released on October 8, brings adjustments to various factions, faster progression through ranked matches, and much more. - writes GameSpot.com
