The publisher Clear River Games has officially confirmed that the shoot 'em up collection Flying Fire Shark: Toaplan Arcade Garage will be released in the West on August 29, 2026, for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
This is a collection of legendary arcade shoot 'em up titles from the studio Toaplan, developed by the renowned studio M2, which specializes in modern retro ports and arcade collections. The package includes classics like Flying Shark and Fire Shark, along with additional regional versions, modern customization options, and numerous gameplay enhancements.
The original Flying Shark debuted back in 1987 and left a significant impact on vertical shoot 'em up games thanks to its accessible gameplay and precisely balanced difficulty. The sequel Fire Shark from 1989 further expanded the formula with more explosive action and a more powerful arsenal of weapons.
The new collection also brings numerous modern features such as save state options, difficulty customization, various screen displays, and the well-known “M2 Gadgets” add-ons that provide detailed information during gameplay.
In addition to the digital release, a physical edition has also been confirmed and is already available for pre-order through the publisher's official store.
