During our visit to Gamescom, we noticed Stormgate, an RTS that wears its inspirations on its sleeve. It is a game that officially released on August 5, 2025, and since then has encountered quite a number of negative reviews.
It is worth noting that the game is free to play, but that does not exempt it from justified criticism, especially considering that it started as a Kickstarter project and seems to be far from fulfilling its promises.
Stormgate is available for free on Steam, so if you have an hour or two to spare, you can try it out and draw your own conclusions. Our conclusion? It seems to be a half-baked project that relied too much on player feedback instead of building a solid foundation on which the game could actually function.
