Gambling, drug dealing, black market shopping, strip bar, heroin production... just another ordinary day in the life of a metro driver

The video game Metro Sim Hustle, which was released on PlayStation consoles on February 19, 2026, was presented as a hybrid of Train Sim World and The Sims, with a touch of the underground chaos of the early GTA titles. The developers are Departure Interactive, and the video game was brought to consoles by Ultimate Games S.A.

This game first appeared as an early access title on Steam in 2019, where it was revamped based on fan feedback. The transition to the PlayStation 5 console was long awaited by simulation fans. Since the console version has all the benefits of the Unitiy Engine, there is no more long loading of the start screen as was the case on PC. Although not a remake, this version of the game is the most advanced yet, even though it has been around for years. The PlayStation version is also the most complete to date – it includes all accessories and all possible game elements.

The gameplay is as interesting as it is simple. The core of the game is this – maintaining a stable job with a chaotic private life (So this is a simulation of a normal life? - you might ask). By day, we are an underground metro train driver. And it's not just a little mini-game within a video game. This is our occupation, and we work shifts every day, trying to please passengers and arrive on time. Although driving the metro is simply designed and there are no overly difficult controls, it is still not easy to get to your next destination on time. But if the game consisted only of driving the subway train, it would be monotonous. That's why we come to the second part of the game: the private life of the metro driver.

This is where the real fun begins, literally. While we are taking a break from a busy shift driving the metro train, our options are almost as wide as living in a real city. First of all, we live in a dirty apartment next to the sewers, which consists of one shower, a toilet and a dirty mattress. Later, as we earn money, we can live in more and more luxurious and opulent apartments. Although the driving career is our main source of income, in this game you can earn extra money in many ways, legal and illegal. Some of the legal ways are delivering pizza, exchanging items with NPCs, etc., while there are many more illegal ways. We can also earn 'bread' by delivering drugs for a local dealer, stealing, gambling, burglaries.

It is also possible to order materials needed for marijuana cultivation or heroin production from the Black Market. And we do all this from our mobile phone, which we call similarly to GTA games - it appears at the bottom of the screen on the right side, and we use it for various useful things in the game, such as ordering a pizza. For relaxation, in the video game we can visit a strip bar, a coffee shop, a sushi bar, a fighting arena and the like. There are also various shops, as well as a furniture store, where we can upgrade our apartment, if you don't feel like sleeping on a dirty mattress until the very end of Metro Sim Hustle. During the game itself, we have to monitor some factors (hydration, energy, sanity, bladder, hygiene, nutrition). If the Bladder tape starts to turn red, it means that we urgently need to find a toilet and have a small bowel movement. In addition to all this, we interact with various NPCs, and our responses and reactions depend on whether we get some extra work from them or if they stop talking to us.

The general consensus among world critics is that this simulation is unique. There's something satisfying about finishing a shift as a subway driver, then spending your hard-earned cash in a casino. In this game, you can literally work your way up from a driver who sleeps on a mattress, to a city mogul of great wealth. If you are looking for a simulation that is not just another simulation of running a store or supermarket, but is actually something a little more special - you have found it. This is a video game that is far from perfect - the controls are clunky, there is no sprint button, no interactive minimap and the like.. But if you want fun that can last for hours and hours, you will probably be willing to spend 12.99 euros on Metro Sim Hustle, which is its price on the PlayStation Store. Just decide first whether you want to get rich the honest way, or the fun way.
