Spiritual successor to Patapon, Ratatan is coming next year to PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This was confirmed in a new trailer for the upcoming rhythm title, which achieved its crowdfunding goal of ¥20 million ($137,000 / £108,000) just an hour after its announcement.
The Ratata Arts team stated earlier this year: "we are pleased with the progress we have made and are confident that we will manage to finalize everything by April 2025." A beta test on PC is also planned to take place in the second half of next year, while the console test is still being considered.
Patapon is a rhythm 2D action platformer that originally released on Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP). Players are tasked with controlling armies of small-eyed creatures called Patapons, who have functions for attacking, defending, retreating, or moving forward by striking drums.
Two more sequels were released in 2008 (Patapon 2) and 2011 (Patapon 3), with the first two games later receiving remasters with 4K visuals on PlayStation 4.
