Neverwinter Nights 2 is an RPG video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Atari Interactive. The game uses an adaptation of the rules from Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 edition.

The original was released in October and November 2006. While this Enhanced version was released on July 15, 2025, on PC (Steam, GOG), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Developed and published by Aspyr.

We had the opportunity to try the new "enhanced" version of this game. In this case, on the PS5 console.

Well... we have to tell you that it is just as we imagined, there are no major changes, they haven't even fixed some crucial issues from the original, and there isn't much beautification or any modernization of the game and some of its functions and mechanics.

What has been improved in the game are actually all those little bugs we could experience while playing it on PC.

The camera has been improved, but it still isn't what we were looking for, at least it's somewhat easier to use, somewhat improved UI, but what we would perhaps appreciate much more is a graphical representation that we think would elevate the game to a higher level; this is really just some minimum of the minimum.

If we consider that the problems on PC were well known and that players actually fixed the game with various patches they created and mods, then that game was what it should have been. While today, this is increasingly declining, I actually want to say that nowadays there aren't as many true fans who have "grown up" with the game as there used to be, even if the game was full of bugs and other issues. Today everyone expects a finished product, which is what they expect; to be honest, when we spit out €80 for some AAA title, we often get an unfinished game waiting for some future update fix that will bring it back to life. The essence of games and gaming has been lost, where success and publicity were not dictated by hype just before release nor did some well-known face say that this game is top-notch.

So this game, or rather this version, is literally a refreshed edition of the original, but as far as we know, mods still work, so perhaps we see some salvation in bringing this to the state that some fans expected. As for multiplayer, it is currently available through consoles and Steam, which can be a big plus for some players.

The game runs much better than it did in the original version; everything is smooth and there are no major issues, e.g., crashes due to changes in settings and the like. Therefore, we would recommend this enhanced edition long before the original version, especially for new players eager for good old CRPGs.
