Warner Bros. Games has announced that it will split into new divisions that will focus on well-known franchises. It has been decided that WB Games Montreal head Yves Lachance will oversee the development of games from the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones series, while Shaun Himmerick from NetherRealm Studios will be in charge of Mortal Kombat and DC titles.

This restructuring comes at a difficult time for the well-known company, which has significantly changed its video game department. After 12 years at the helm of Warner Bros. Interactive, David Haddad has left the position. Last month, Warner announced the closure of three studios and the cancellation of the Wonder Women game.

Sister company Warner Bros Discovery announced this month that it will split into two firms by mid-2026 (WBD Streaming & Studios and WBD Global Networks), with the video game division expected to be under Streaming & Studios.

"Our company is home to some of the biggest franchises in the world, and we are constantly optimizing team structures to ultimately delight fans of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Mortal Kombat, and DC games." said J.B. Perrette from Warner Bros Discovery to Variety.

"We are honored to have top-notch teams, Sean and Yves are respected leaders due to their expertise in their fields. I look forward to working with them and the teams on games that will be best for our key franchises."
