ININ Games and Yu Suzuki have announced that Shenmue III will receive a new version. The official reveal will take place this week at Gamescom. The new version will feature enhanced visuals, optimization improvements, and various other benefits.
Shenmue III Enhanced Version will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Owners of the original on PlayStation 4 and PC will receive a special offer for the new version, ININ stated, and all new enhancements can be turned off if players prefer an experience similar to the original. The full list of new improvements is as follows:
- Improved graphics and performance, with sharper textures, faster loading times, and smoother frame rates
- 4K "texture enhancement" offering more refined and detailed environments and characters
- Support for DLSS and FSR upscale
- Increased number of NPCs populating the village to make it "feel livelier"
- "Classic Camera Mode" inspired by Shenmue 1 and 2
- Gameplay fixes, including "stamina system choices, health recovery before battles, and reduced monetary barriers for smooth progression"
- Ability to skip cutscenes and conversations and extended QTE timing window
- Menu and UX improvements
