Sony Interactive Entertainment plans to phase out the PlayStation Network (PSN) name by September 2026 as part of a rebranding of its digital services. According to Insider Gaming, the change will be purely visual and will not affect the functionality of the service. This means that all key features such as the friends list, multiplayer and trophies will remain unchanged and available to players. Sony states that the goal of this move is to better present the breadth of their digital services and simplify branding. By fall 2026, developers will have to adapt their projects to the new guidelines and remove all references to PSN from games and supporting materials. For now, it is not known whether the service will get a completely new name or will simply be integrated under the wider PlayStation brand.
