Electronic Arts has announced that Codemasters is ceasing support for EA Sports WRC from 2023. After 27 years, the team has decided that it is time to take a break from developing rally games, Codemasters is known for the Colin McRae Rally and DiRT series.
EA with WRC has a licensing agreement until 2027, which means we won't see alternative rally games, at least not those that will carry the official name of the well-known rally race.
“Our partnership with WRC has been the pinnacle of Codemasters' journey with off-road racing, which has lasted for decades through series such as Colin McRae Rally and DiRT. We have provided a home for every rally enthusiast, in an effort to push boundaries and bring the excitement of driving on the edge. We have gathered incredibly talented racing developers, collaborated with some of the icons of this sport, and had the opportunity to share our love for rally.” said Codemasters.
