Awesome Games Done Quick event that took place from January 5 - 12 raised $2.5 million in donations for humanitarian aid. When the event concluded yesterday, the total amount raised was announced, and all funds will go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
User Redditor Thorebane, who regularly follows the organization, stated that over the past 15 years they have raised $54 million, with $26 million going to Prevent Cancer.
This year's marathon consisted of 130 speedruns, starting yesterday with a run of Pikmin on Nintendo Switch, and ending with a randomizer race in Super Metroid on SNES. Among other games played this week were: Portal 2, Astro Bot, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, UFO 50, Metroid Prime, Horizon Forbidden West, Silent Hill 2 and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
Interesting moments also included a player who defeated an Elden Ring boss with a saxophone-shaped controller and a player who completed Crazy Taxi accompanied by live music.
