In the world of video games dominated by fast cars, shootings and fantastic environments, Giant Machines 2017 brings something completely different - a calm and technically detailed world of huge industrial machines. Although the game was originally released back in 2016 for PC, it also arrived on PlayStation 5 in August 2025. The new version brings an experience that is both fascinating and a little outdated depending on the player's expectations.

The game puts us in the role of an operator who has to manage a total of seven different gigantic machines – from excavators, cranes and crushers, all the way to a rocket transporter. Everything takes place within 14 missions that take the player through various locations - from the frozen landscapes of Greenland to the space launch center in Florida. The ultimate goal? Prepare and launch the spacecraft.

What Giant Machines 2017 on PlayStation 5 does extremely well is convey the sense of size and power of the machines. The first-person view in the cabin, realistic physics and sound effects add to the impression.

Unfortunately, the game does not have a platinum trophy.

However, although the idea of the game is very interesting, the execution has its weaknesses. The graphics seem a bit dated, especially when compared to modern simulations. The game can be slow, and some tasks repetitive, which can quickly diminish the initial excitement. Also, the lack of detailed instructions and sometimes imprecise controls can frustrate players new to this type of game.

Despite this, Giant Machines 2017 has its audience. Fans of heavy machinery, engineering challenges and realistic simulations will likely enjoy every moment of the mission. Those looking for fast action, attractive graphics and instant rewards may lose interest after just a few missions.

In conclusion, Giant Machines 2017 on PlayStation 5 is an interesting and unique title that is not for everyone. It offers an authentic experience of managing massive machines and challenges that require patience and precision. If that sounds appealing to you, this game might be a real find.

A copy of the PlayStation 5 version of the game was provided by the publisher Ultimate Games S.A. for review purposes.
