Cal & Bomba is an interesting indie puzzle game developed by the Norwegian studio Filiokus, which combines elements of programming, logic and fun with explosive visuals. The player takes on the roles of Cal the gnome and Bomba the troll, and their goal is to put together a series of actions — such as moving, throwing explosives, using spells — and then watch the plan unravel in spectacular chain reactions.

The basic concept of the game is "program before you play", which means that players arrange a sequence of actions in advance, then press 'play' to observe how their strategy works on the field. In this way, the game provokes thinking — not only "what" to do, but "why" and "how" — and creatively uses mathematical and logical elements so that the player can plan the optimal sequence.

As for the impression: the game feels fresh and a bit unusual in terms of the combination of educational content and fun explosive aesthetics. It is positive that it develops thinking, but at the same time offers a visually pleasing experience with lots of "booms" and effects, which can be a great balance for casual puzzlers. On the negative side, it could be noted — at least according to the information so far — that the game might not be for everyone looking for a fast action pace: the emphasis here is on thinking, planning and repeating sequences. According to the announcements, the game will come with more than 150 levels hand-crafted in multiple worlds, which promises good durability.

In conclusion: if you like puzzle games that require thinking and have the patience for more complex tasks, Cal & Bomba is a nice choice that combines logic, aesthetics and fun. But if you're looking for a quick, reflexive experience with minimal thought — you might want to consider something else.
