Valve has announced a new set of hardware devices within its Steam platform — the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller devices, arriving in early 2026.

Steam Machine is a compact home format gaming PC (approx. 160 mm³) with an AMD-Zen4/RDNA3 class processor and graphics, 16 GB DDR5 + 8 GB VRAM and support for 4K/8K display — and is intended for those who want a full library of Steam games without compromise.

Steam Frame comes as a wireless VR (and non-VR) headset with its own Snapdragon 8 chip, support for streaming from a PC, simultaneous dual radio channels and "foveated streaming" technology that optimizes picture quality where you're looking.

Steam Controller on the other hand, it is a highly customizable gaming pad with magnetic thumbsticks, trackpads and gyro control — and is intended both for PC gaming and for connecting to other Steam devices.

Prices have not yet been announced, but the collaboration of these three devices clearly speaks of Valve's ambition to make Steam the central platform for gaming – from the living room to the VR set.
