Square Enix has officially announced the release date for the highly anticipated Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake – a remake of classic RPGs that will be available from October 30, 2025 on all current platforms PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store).
What does Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake bring?
This remake combines completely revamped versions of the first two games in the series, Dragon Quest I and Dragon Quest II, using the signature HD-2D graphics style popularized by games like Octopath Traveler. This style combines classic 16-bit pixelated graphics with detailed 3D environments and modern visual effects, creating a nostalgic yet fresh visual feel.
In addition to visual improvements, the remake also brings significant improvements in gameplay. An automatic battle system and battle acceleration options have been introduced, making it easier for new players to access, while maintaining the depth that fans of the series have come to appreciate. For the first time in the series, the games will have fully voiced roles, which further adds to the immersion in the game world.
