Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth sequel to the Resident Evil series, a survival horror game with puzzles from 1996. With a gap of 30 years, the new sequel will chronologically follow the events from the previous parts, especially from the previous Resident Evil Village.
The main character is Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of journalist Alyssa Ashcroft, who happened to be in Racoon City at the exact moment of the biohazard. Grace herself is an FBI agent and technical analyst. He investigates cases of mysterious deaths and abnormal illnesses. The novelty in her character is that she is inexperienced. Although she works within the FBI, she is also young
inexperienced, which significantly separates her from experienced characters such as Leon S. Kennedy or Chris Redfield.
What makes Resident Evil Requiem different is that it will change the genre – and put it back on the survival horror route. An addition to the new gameplay is the ability to choose between first or third person perspective at the very beginning of the game. The focus is on horror, discomfort, fear — that is, atmosphere. Capcom wants the game not to be self-action, but to keep players in suspense. This feeling of "fear addiction" is one of the main concepts.
Resident Evil Requiem releases on February 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
