Pompeii: The Legacy, a city-building strategy game from indie studio Siscia Games led by Željko Kos, will be released in Early Access on Steam on September 23, 2025. The game begins twenty years after the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, and the player assumes the role of the leader of a Roman family that must rebuild Pompeii through generations, through more than 200 years of historical development.
The game will combine resource management, building infrastructure — such as roads, aqueducts, trade routes — politics, trade, social structure (patricians, plebeians, slaves), and choices that affect the fate of cities and families. There is also an optional RTS game mode for military conflicts, but also more peaceful options such as the diplomatic route or a focus on construction.
One of the key items is localization: the game will be available from the very beginning of Early Access in 12 languages, including Croatian, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Korean and Polish, which allows for wider accessibility to players. Developer Željko Kos plans regular updates — weekly to expand, fix and refine the game based on player feedback.
Although the Early Access version brings a basic experience with most of the buildings, the campaign, and the basic systems of economy and politics — some elements, such as RTS-battles (military conflicts) will be developed and refined after launch. Overall, Pompeii: The Legacy it feels like an ambitious title that promises a blend of historical atmosphere, strategic depth, and options for players who prefer peaceful development over military conflict.
