Five years after a successful Kickstarter campaign, Jaw Drop Games is about to release Deathground in Steam Early Access on October 7, 2025. This creepy dinosaur survival horror game has already generated a lot of interest, with more than 289,000 players adding it to their wishlists.
In Deathground, players enter abandoned research facilities that have been taken over by ruthless predators. Whether playing solo or in teams of up to four players, survival requires stealth, strategy and quick decisions.
Content of the Early Access version
The initial edition brings two bootcamp maps (a solo tutorial and a bunker for equipment testing) and three missions in diverse environments. Objectives include restoring power to a volcanic power plant, decontaminating a toxic greenhouse, and infiltrating a decaying genetics lab to recover key data.
Evolution since Kickstarter 2020.
While true to the initial vision, Deathground has evolved significantly thanks to community feedback and the studio's commitment to a deeper, more replayable survival game.
The most important changes include:
- Extended co-op: now supports up to 4 players (instead of 1–3).
- Six playable characters: Scout, Engineer, Survivalist, Medic, and redesigned Observer and Hunter.
- Adaptable equipment: tools like Motion Detector, Hacking Device, Tranquilizer Rifle and Med-Kit are available to all classes.
- Richer missions and environments: more maps, narrative items and more complex objectives.
- Deeper stealth and survival elements: new hiding places, improved movement (slide, sneak, peek), sound traps.
- Smarter AI behaviors: raptors can draw players out of hiding, and Compsognathus can be chased through the vent.
- Defense mechanisms: throwing objects or temporarily putting dinosaurs to sleep.
